Wyeth increasing clinical trials in Japan by a factor of three

Saw this cryptic note in the news a few days ago.  Could it signal a new trend?

"...The pharmaceutical company Wyeth plans to increase the number of clinical trials it conducts in Japan. In 2005, the company conducted trials of five products in Japan, but this year it plans to conduct a total of 13 to 15.  The Web site TradingMarkets.com says the company will begin Japanese trials of new drugs in all areas except cancer at the same time they start in other markets. Most drug companies wait until early trial goals are met in the U.S. and Europe before initiating trials in the more expensive market of Japan..." -AMS
