Wharton just published an interesting article that shows why downsizing often creates more problems than it solves.The focus of part of the article is Circuit City, which trimmed thousands of jobs just to save a few cents per hour on each paycheck and, in the process, lost its most highly skilled workers.Retail service-oriented, perhaps, but there are lessons here for pharma, too.
