Shire announced that it will be implementing cost-cutting measures targeting its manufacturing operations, one of which is in Milford, Mass. According to an article in Boston Business Journal, Shire’s head of technical operations, Matt Walker, said Shire is divesting five of its 17 manufacturing sites worldwide, including the 99,000 square-foot plant in Milford.
About 100 employees currently work at that facility, which Shire acquired through its merger with Baxalta last year, the story said. Walker says those employees will likely transfer to the company that buys the site.
