Two former Eli Lilly scientists, Guoqing Cao and Shuyu Li, are accused of divulging $55 million in trade secrets to rival Chinese pharmaceutical company Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine.
The secrets involved Lilly's early-stage research on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer.
Both the accused were born in China, but became U.S. citizens several years ago. The men are being held without bond until trial due to the possible flight risks to China.
