GSK to shut down Pennsylvania plant, move production to Puerto Rico

GlaxoSmithKline have announced plans to close down a site that produces consumer healthcare products in Carlisle, Pa. The facility will be phased out by mid-2021 with a full exit happening by the end of 2021.

The drugmaker will be moving the facility's production to Guayama, Puerto Rico. While jobs will be added in Puerto Rico, the move will see the elimination of 260 employees in Pennsylvania.

The Carlisle site currently produces consumer healthcare products, mainly vitamin C supplement Emergen-C.
