MedPharm, a Durham, N.C.-based contract research, development and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) specializing in topical and transepithelial products, has become an Olink Certified Service Provider (CSP) and adding targeted proteomic analysis to its testing capabilities.

The certification makes MedPharm the first Olink CSP in the Carolinas and one of three in the Southeastern United States, according to the company.

Olink, a biotechnology company, uses Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) technology to measure protein biomarkers through dual-antibody recognition and DNA-based detection. The method can analyze samples as small as 1 µL and supports both absolute and relative protein measurements across low- and high-abundance targets.

MedPharm said the new capability will allow researchers to combine proteomic data with disease models based on reconstructed and ex vivo human tissues. The approach is intended to provide additional insight into biological responses and potential mechanisms of action during drug development.

The company plans to use the certification as a foundation for expanding its contract research capabilities, including clinical trial sample analysis and translational models that support clinical development.

MedPharm operates in the U.S. and U.K. and maintains a partnership network in Belgium. The company said the expanded capabilities will support international customers and further integrate proteomic analysis with its human-relevant testing services.
