Altasciences, a Quebec-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), is expanding its North American bioanalytical laboratory footprint with projects in the Montréal area and Harleysville, Pennsylvania.

The company is adding 4,000 square feet to its Greater Montréal laboratory, with completion expected by the end of the third quarter of 2026. Altasciences is also constructing a new 13,000-square-foot laboratory in Harleysville, with the first phase scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

The expanded facilities will support pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic assay method development, validation, and sample analysis across clinical development. The company said the additional capacity will accommodate larger studies and higher-sample volumes, while incorporating laboratory automation and standardized scientific workflows.

The projects will expand Altasciences’ existing North American bioanalytical network, which includes laboratories in Montréal, Seattle, Washington, and Columbia, Missouri. The company said its laboratories use common quality systems, scientific workflows, instrumentation platforms, and operational processes, enabling work to be transferred between locations as program requirements change.

Altasciences said the investments are intended to increase capacity for increasingly complex clinical programs while providing additional flexibility and business continuity for sponsors.
