Project Farma, PerkinElmer’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) manufacturing services provider based in Shelton, Connecticut, has entered an agreement to acquire SimoTech, a Cork, Ireland-based provider of manufacturing automation and GMP information technology (IT) solutions for the life sciences industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SimoTech provides design, implementation, and operational support for process automation and digital manufacturing systems, serving 10 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers, according to the announcement. Its capabilities include distributed control systems (DCS), manufacturing execution systems (MES), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and GMP IT.

The acquisition will add automation and digital manufacturing capabilities to Project Farma’s existing services, which include commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV), project management, scheduling and controls, as well as quality, regulatory, and compliance support. The combined platform will cover manufacturing projects from planning and execution through operational readiness and ongoing operations, according to Project Farma.

SimoTech, founded in 2011, will join Project Farma following the transaction. The company said SimoTech’s customer teams and relationships will remain unchanged.
