Curia Global, an Albany, New York-based contract research, development and manufacturing organization (CRDMO), has opened an expanded manufacturing campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico following a $200 million investment.

The expansion adds 70,000 square feet to the site’s existing 200,000-square-foot manufacturing footprint and includes two new isolated filling lines. One flexible line supports filling of syringes, cartridges, and vials, while a high-speed vial line can handle batch sizes of up to 1,000 liters and filling speeds of up to 400 vials per minute.

The Albuquerque campus specializes in aseptic fill-finish and lyophilization, with automated visual inspection and packaging capabilities. The expanded facility also includes Curia’s Sterile University training program for sterile manufacturing personnel.

The project received support through a cooperative agreement with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. The State of New Mexico also supported the project through its Local Economic Development Act job creation fund.

The expansion, first announced in March 2025, is intended to increase U.S. manufacturing capacity for injectable vaccines and medicines. The Albuquerque facility has approximately 40 years of experience in sterile drug product manufacturing, according to the company.

The expansion follows Curia’s May announcement of additional sterile fill-finish capacity at its Glasgow, UK facility. That project, scheduled for completion in early 2027, will add an Annex 1-compliant, isolator-based vial filling line and lyophilizer capable of handling batches of up to 20,000 vials.
