WuXi Biologics to divest controlling stake in Bestchrom chromatography unit
WuXi Biologics, headquartered in Wuxi, China, has entered an agreement with an independent third party to divest its 51.1% equity interest in Bestchrom, a supplier of biopharmaceutical downstream purification technologies and services.
The transaction is expected to close by December 2026. Upon completion, WuXi Biologics will no longer hold an equity interest in Bestchrom, which will cease to be a consolidated subsidiary of the company.
Bestchrom provides chromatography resins, columns, and related process development services for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. WuXi Biologics said the divestment is intended to improve capital allocation and sharpen its focus on its core contract research, development and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) business.
The transaction follows recent developments in WuXi Biologics’ collaboration with Earendil Labs. In July, the companies announced that their joint ophthalmic trispecific antibody had become the 1,000th molecule to enter WuXi Biologics’ integrated CRDMO platform.
The collaboration has supported development of bispecific and multispecific antibodies, fusion proteins and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), with programs progressing from DNA through investigational new drug (IND) application. The programs target autoimmune diseases, oncology, and other serious conditions, according to the companies.
