AstraZeneca Sues Ex-Exec After GSK Move

GSK's new pharma unit president Luke Miels is accused of violating his employment agreement
May 16, 2017

AstraZeneca has filed suit in a London court alleging that its former executive vice president for Europe, Luke Miels, violated his employment agreement, after rival GlaxoSmithKline announced he would become president of its pharma unit in January.

AstraZeneca didn’t disclose what violations Miels is accused of, but Bloomberg reports that the company wrote that "Miels should be required to abide by the terms of his contract."

Miels was brought to GSK to run the drugs business and is responsible for which experimental medicines the company will pursue in its early-stage pipeline.
