Aug. 25, 2014

Hamilton Scientific recently announced that it has acquired the assets of the laboratory business of Dancker, Sellew and Douglas (DS&D) based in Somerville, New Jersey. DS&D is a long-standing dealer partner for Hamilton Scientific. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company will be renamed Laboratory Solutions of the Atlantic and will remain in central New Jersey. Hamilton Scientific, acquired by OpenGate in 2012, is a leading manufacturer of laboratory furniture and fume hoods for the education, healthcare and industrial markets, and is headquartered in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Steven Lang, President and CEO of DS&D, stated, “The sale of our laboratory division allows us to focus on our strategy to enhance our market leadership and world class customer service for our clients in the contract office and commercial interiors industry. We feel this sale provides a seamless transition for our current clients in the laboratory market.”

DS&D Laboratory Solutions was the premier Hamilton Scientific laboratory workstation and fume hood supplier in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and northern Virginia. Under the agreement, DS&D laboratory employees will have the opportunity to join Hamilton Scientific, as they continue to oversee operations of the business during the transition.

Jack Roberts, President and CEO of Hamilton Scientific, commented “We are excited to maintain a strong dealer presence in the Atlantic region of the US. Ensuring continuity for our customers, for current and future projects, was the driving force behind the purchase. The Atlantic region represents a strategic growth area for us as we continually invest in our business as the recognized leader in the laboratory furniture and fume hood industry.”
