Sanofi, US Army Spar Over Zika Vax Price

Sanofi Pasteur has reportedly rejected a request from the US Army to make prices for a Zika virus vaccine affordable, despite the vaccine maker having received a $43 million US research grant.

The disagreement comes amid negotiations the Army is holding to grant Sanofi an exclusive license to make and sell a Zika vaccine.

In March, Sen. Bernie Sanders penned an op-ed in The New York Times in which he reprimanded the Army for what he calls a “bad deal” that may subject Americans to price gouging.
