After the Chinese government failed to renew an import license for Prevenar, Pfizer announced it will cease vaccine sales operations in China, "effective immediately."
Pfizer released a statement saying the license for Prevenar, a vaccine that protects toddlers against pneumococcal disease, expired, but declined to disclose why the vaccine’s license wasn't renewed. Pfizer is the only company selling the drug in China.
