Six Suitors Seek Sanofi's $3.5B Generics Unit

A French newspaper reported at least six investment funds expressed interest in buying Sanofi's generic drug division, and official bids are forthcoming

Sanofi reportedly is ready to begin the process of selling its generic drug business in Europe, and Reuters says a French newspaper, Le Figaro, listed at least six funds that will be making offers.

Rothschild and JP Morgan will handle the divestment, and will send out memos to potential buyers in the next few weeks, the paper said.

Interested investment funds were said to include: Blackstone, CVC, BC Partners, Carlyle, Cinven and Advent, but sources were not revealed.
