Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb has been named a special partner at a venture capital firm with a major health care investment portfolio, after unexpectedly departing from his position as the country’s top drug regulator this past March.
Gottlieb will rejoin New Enterprise Associates, where he previously had a 10-year tenure as a venture partner. According to NEA, "Scott will be based in our Chevy Chase, Maryland, office and will be an active investor across the full spectrum of our healthcare activities, with a particular emphasis on biopharma and healthcare services."
Gottlieb left his FDA post after less than two years, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
