The U.S. government has agreed to purchase 100 million doses of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine for $1.5 billion.
Under the deal, Moderna priced a two-dose regimen of the vaccine at $30.50.
Moderna has one of the leading coronavirus vaccine candidates. The company launched a phase 3 trial for the mRNA vaccine in July and plans to complete the trial by September.
Under Operation Warp Speed, the U.S. government now has vaccine purchase agreements with several companies including Pfizer, and Johnson and Johnson, that add up to about 500 million guaranteed doses, pending FDA approval.
