Single-Use Membrane Adsorber Reduces Buffer Usage and Eliminates Buffer Tank Bottlenecks

Millipore Corporation announces its single-use ChromaSorb membrane adsorber. ChromaSorb devices bind negative impurities from host cell protein (HCP), DNA, endotoxins and viruses at salt concentrations above those of traditional resins and membranes. The technology behind the ChromaSorb solution enables these devices to function at a range of salt concentrations, eliminating the need to dilute feedstreams prior to processing. This ability avoids the downstream bottleneck of buffer tank capacity that is inherent to competitive disposable adsorbers at the polishing step.

The ChromaSorb solution is comprised of a linearly scalable family of devices. The ChromaSorb 0.08 mL process development device requires a third less volume of feedstock than other membrane adsorbers, allowing for the design of robust experiments. ChromaSorb 0.08 mL devices for process development, optimization and scale up are currently available; ChromaSorb 50 mL and 500 mL devices will be available soon.
