Authentication Labels Incorporate Floating Image Technology

3M has launched a new format of its 3M Confirm authentication products with floating image technology to protect against counterfeiting and tampering. This new format, built on 3M's retroreflective security technology, offers multi-layered overt and covert security features, and allows for the incorporation of additional security and tracking features into the same label.

Confirm authentication products feature an optically variable device (OVD) image that appears to float above or sink below the label surface and then disappear as the viewing angle changes, so that dramatic movement of the image is easy to detect and recognize using only the human eye, enabling quick and easy authentication that helps determine that the label and product are genuine.

The strip is fully customizable and the additional functionality of the new format allows manufacturers to use just one label for easy authentication, bar codes, tracking and other security features, cutting costs while increasing efficiency and security.
