Apotex Selects NuGenesis to Reduce Cycle Time in Product Development

Apotex, Inc., Canada's leading pharmaceutical company, is implementing WatersCorp.'s (Milford, Mass.)NuGenesis scientific data management system across its global R&D operations, to reduce the time it needs to develop and market new products.  "Based on our initial implementation, we're confident that the system will enable us to reduce the overall cycle time for the development and approval of new generic drugs," said Apotex CIO Michael Davidson.

Initially, Apotex will roll out the platform in three continents, but, eventually, the company plans to deploy it at up to 15 sites worldwide.

The platform features electronic signature capabilities.  It can also capture all laboratory data, and control and audit changes to documents and access to data.  When NuGenesis is deployed in between "data generators" such as analytical indstruments and a laboratory information management system, it acts as a single point of content, from which LIMS can pull necessary data to perform custom calculations. The move is expected to make it easier for Apotex to move to a completely electronic laboratory data-management process.
