Trump says no campaign donations from pharma

April 26, 2019

President Trump expressed his disinterest in campaign contributions from the pharmaceutical industry, while attending a recent drug addiction event.

As reported by Bloomberg, the pharma industry doesn’t rank among the top 20 sources of money for Trump’s re-election campaign, which has gotten the bulk of its support from small-dollar donors giving in amounts of $200 or less.

Trump has made the opioid epidemic a political priority. Earlier this week, federal prosecutors brought criminal charges against two former pharma executives for their role in fueling the opioid epidemic.

"We are holding Big Pharma accountable," Trump said at the 2019 Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta. "I couldn't care less, they have to do what's right."
