A landmark study has found that the risk of passing on the HIV virus is completely eliminated if the HIV-positive partner takes antiretroviral therapies (ART).
The eight-year study of 972 gay male couples, where the partner with HIV took ART, found that there were no new cases of transmission to the HIV-negative partner during sex without a condom.
The study asserts that if everyone in the world with HIV knew their status and had access to effective treatment, no new cases would occur.
