Aug. 20, 2018

A former lawyer for Martin Shkreli has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role helping the infamous “Pharma Bro” defraud shareholders.

Prosecutors had asked the U.S. District judge in Brooklyn to sentence the lawyer, Even Greebel, to five years. Greebel was convicted in December for helping commit securities fraud and cover it up while Shkreli was CEO of Retrophin. As part of his sentencing, Greebel was also ordered to pay $10.4 million in restitution to Retrophin.

Greebel apologized for his crimes and said, “I will regret, every day of my life, the day I met Martin Shkreli.”

Shkreli, who was found guilty of defrauding hedge fund investors, is currently serving a seven-year sentence in prison.
