J&J buys 3D implant maker

Johnson & Johnson has acquired spinal fusion implant developer, Emerging Implant Technologies, for an undisclosed amount.

Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, through its subsidiary Johnson & Johnson Medical GmbH, purchased the privately held German manufacturer of 3D-printed titanium interbody implants to enhance its comprehensive implant portfolio.

The products in Emerging Implant's portfolio leverage EIT’s proprietary advanced cellular titanium, which consists of an open and interconnected porous structure designed to allow bone to grow into the implant.
