BMS announces Florida layoffs

Nov. 15, 2018

Bristol-Myers Squibb announced it will lay off close to 20 percent of its Tampa location workforce in January 2019.

Employees were given notice on Nov. 14. There are 400 positions total at the site.

BMS says it is looking to “accelerate its pipeline and simplify infrastructure” but will continue to have a strong presence in the Tampa area as it looks toward the future.

The drugmaker opened its state-of-the-art North America Capability Center in 2014 to provide strategic capabilities for delivering end-to-end process excellence and innovation.
