Shkreli Lawyer Convicted of Fraud Cover Up

Dec. 29, 2017

The lawyer accused of helping pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli cover up a financial fraud was convicted on Wednesday.

Evan Greebel was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn of conspiring to commit securities fraud and wire fraud. Greebel, who was Retrophin's outside counsel from 2011 to 2014, was accused of helping Shkreli steal millions of dollars and cover up Shkreli's fraud while the hedge fund manager was CEO of Retrophin.

In an unrelated trial in August, a federal jury found Shkreli guilty of three counts of securities fraud, but acquitted him of five other criminal counts.
