Sanofi Tears Down Unused Plant While Looking to Grow

May 11, 2017

Sanofi says it will demolish its pilot plant in Montpellier in southern France that has never been used since its completion in 2011, citing its evolving biologics-focused portfolio, according to an article in in-pharmatechnologist.com.

In other company news, Reuters reports that Sanofi is currently exploring several external growth opportunities, after having failed to close two large deals recently. The company's chairman doesn't feel an urgent need to make acquisitions, however.

"There is a certain number of targets that we are looking at and if we think there are indeed transactions that can be achieved, we will consider them," Sanofi's Board Chairman Serge Weinberg said during the French company's annual meeting in Paris.
