India's Pharma Marketing Suffers Setback

The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) prepared marketing rules in an effort to curb unethical promotional practices in India's drug industry, but it now faces an indefinite delay after the law ministry rejected them, according to an Reuters article. The ministry said they cannot be passed under the proposed legal framework, sources said.

The legal roadblock is a setback for public health groups that have been pushing for rules on marketing to prevent bribery and corruption, which is said to be rampant in India's health sector, the story says.
