India's Torrent Opens New Plant to Serve International Markets

Torrent Pharma announced it has begun production from its new plant in Gujarat.

The new facility is the company's 5th formulation plant and second API plant. Phase one of the two-phase project cost Torrent $98.6 million.

The first phase of the facility has a yearly capacity of about 7,500 million tablets and capsules and 25 metric tons of active ingredients. Construction of phase two will begin soon and once completed will increase the total capacity to about 14,000 million tablets/capsules and 80 metric tons of API per year.

According to Torrent, the new plant will cater mostly to the more regulated international markets such as US, Brazil, and Germany.
