AstraZeneca announced on Wednesday that it will close its 33-year-old Westboro, MA manufacturing plant by the end of 2015.
The plant closing will result in approximately 180 layoffs. Some jobs will be eliminated as early as March while others will be lost throughout 2015.
AstraZeneca said it will consolidate production of its asthma drug, Pulmicort, at sites in Sweden and Australia.
