News: Sanofi Buys Genzyme for $20.1B

French pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis's purchase of Cambridge's Genzyme Corp., a merger dance that has transfixed the biotechnology community since rumors first swirled in May, is now a done deal. Sanofi announced overnight that it will purchase Genzyme in a deal worth $20.1 billion.
