Eli Lilly Invests $40M in Ireland Plant

Cork facility to become worldwide center of excellence for API manufacturing

Eli Lilly revealed plans for a nearly $40 million investment in its Kinsale plant, according to an article in the Irish Times. The company says it will create a high-tech manufacturing plant at the Cork facility, using what it said was “pioneering technology that has the potential to transform how medicines are made in the future.”

John Lechleiter, chief executive, said the company would apply “continuous manufacturing technology” to help develop and commercialize products in the company’s late stage pipeline.

The new operation is expected to be fully operational by early next year, the article said.
