Amgen to lay off 300 workers

Jan. 30, 2023

Ahead of its Humira biosimilar launch, Amgen is laying off roughly 300 workers. The layoffs have been confirmed by employees on LinkedIn, as well by a company spokesperson to media sources.

“This week has been tough for many of us at Amgen,” said one former Amgen employee affected by the layoffs. “I, and many of my colleagues were informed our positions were being eliminated.”  Other employees shared similar messages.

While Amgen hasn’t shared an official statement concerning the layoffs, Endpoints first reported the story last week following the social media announcements.

Back in December,  Amgen announced it would be acquiring Horizon Therapeutics for $27.8 billion. A few weeks later, Amgen unveiled a $1.25 billion research collaboration and license agreement with South Korean-based biotech LegoChem Biosciences to develop up to five investigational antibody-drug conjugates.
