The Nicest Christmas Gift

Dec. 25, 2007
The day was going along slowly; I was chatting with friends and family via phone, when something unexpected occurred, I received a "Merry Christmas" call fom Syria! It was a graduate student at Damascus University with whom I had been working to get over there next spring. He must have gone back to Lebanon to visit his family, but took time to call, oh those thousands of miles, just to wish me a good day. Sometimes, it is the gift that you can't eat, or drive, or plug in that means the most. After that call, what more could I want for Christmas?
