Interphex 2005 Conference & Exhibition Preview

Rudy G.'s going to be there, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Learn about the new PharmaFacilities track, and find out what your favorite vendors will unveil.

While one name — Rudy — may draw much of the attention at April’s Interphex 2005 Conference and Exhibition, it may be the depth and quality of exhibitors and presenters that eventually steals the show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, April 26-28.

New York’s own Rudy Giuliani will deliver a keynote address Wednesday morning, April 27, on “Leadership in Challenging and Uncertain Times.” The former New York City mayor will share insights into the courage and compassion that allowed him to lead the city in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

Giuliani’s is just one of three stellar keynote sessions, however. Tuesday, April 28, features a panel of industry visionaries engaged in a discussion about the safety, efficacy, urgency and profitability of new drugs. Speakers for the session, “Strong Medicine: What’s Next for Drug Development?” include Yale School of Medicine professor Irvin Modlin and Pfizer senior VP of Global Research and Development Nancy Hutson.

Thursday's early morning keynote is a must-attend. John M. Taylor III, FDA associate commissioner for regulatory affairs, discusses “Risk-Based Inspections: What’s the FDA Looking For?”

Class is in session

Looking to brush up on your skills or add to your continuing education units (CEUs)? Interphex 2005 has quite the curriculum covering all four conference tracks. Just a few of the accredited workshops, presented by the Center for Professional Advancement, are:
  • “Trouble-Shooting the Freeze-Drying Process” (Manufacturing).

  • “Outsourcing, Selecting & Managing Contract Research Organizations (Sourcing & Services)

  • “Data Flow Modeling, Data Warehousing, Knowledge Management, and Data Mining” (IT).
