New Jersey-based Heritage Pharmaceuticals is seeking damages from a Port of Virginia blunder that sent a container of its drugs toppling into the Elizabeth River.
According to the federal lawsuit, a spreader bar from gantry crane knocked over eight large containers, which “fell like dominos” into the river at the Norfolk International Terminals in July. Among the lost cargo was a refrigerated container holding 562 packages of drugs worth about $200,000 from Heritage.
Heritage is now seeking $220,000 in damages from the subsidiary that operates the Virginia Port Authority’s facilities, Agility Logistics and Hapag-Lloyd America.
