The FDA has selected Elizabeth Jungman, currently the director of public health programs at Pew Charitable Trusts, to serve as head of the agency's Office of Regulatory Policy.
The news was first reported by STAT and later confirmed by Jungman on her Twitter page.
The Office of Regulatory Policy sits within the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. In her new role, Jungman will oversee drug safety policies.
Jungman has previously worked closely with the FDA while at Pew and has vocally supported some of the FDA's more controversial policies, such as stricter standards for drug compounding.
