Amgen Lays Off, Moves 500

Amgen has announced that it will be relocating, reassigning, or laying off nearly 500 employees at its Thousand Oaks, California-based headquarters throughout the next year and a half.

The biopharmaceutical company announced the changes as an element of its plan to open a facility in Tampa, Florida. The new facility hopes to employ approximately 450 people as Amgen expects roughly 50 Thousand Oaks-based employees to relocate.

Amgen’s is also seeking to move people into R&D positions in Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Francisco, which will affect nearly 100 employees. Still, the company has no plans to sell parts of its Thousand Oaks property.
