Pfizer, Roche, Aspen Accused of Overcharging for Cancer Drugs

South Africa's Competition Commission will investigate whether Pfizer, Roche and Aspen charged an excessive amount for lung/breast cancer meds.

South Africa's Competition Commission announced an investigation into three drug companies accused of over-charging for cancer medicines, according to a Reuters article.

Tembinkosi Bonakele, head of the Commission, said they would investigate Aspen Pharmacare, Africa's biggest generic drug manufacturer; New York-based Pfizer; and Swiss company Roche Holding.

The Commission investigates cases before bringing them to the Competition Tribunal for adjudication.
