Novartis oncology CEO makes hasty exit

Just 11 months after taking on the role, Novartis oncology chief Liz Barrett said she is leaving to become chief executive of a U.S. biotech company.

Just 11 months after taking on the role, Novartis oncology chief Liz Barrett said she is leaving to become chief executive of a U.S. biotech company.

Barrett will be replaced by Susanne Schaffert, Ph.D., currently President, Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA), a Novartis company. Schaffert is a long-time Novartis exec.

Barrett cited challenges in moving her family to Basel, Novartis’s headquarters, as the reason for her departure.
