Several drugmakers are joining the growing group of protestors who are distancing themselves from the Fox News Channel shows featuring Tucker Carlson and Jeanine Pirro after the hosts were accused of making bigoted statements.
AstraZeneca tweeted Monday that it had ceased advertising on Carlson’s show and would not resume in the future, after old recordings surfaced of the host making disparaging remarks about women and suggestive comments about underage girls, as well as defending child abuse.
Novo Nordisk, as well as other sponsors, have pulled their ads from Jeanine Pirro’s Fox News Channel show after her remarks about Rep. Ilhan Omar, who is Muslim. Pirro stated on her show that Omar was “Sharia-compliant” because she wears a traditional hijab head-covering and suggested that her beliefs were “antithetical” to the Constitution. Allergan is reportedly also taking steps to cease advertisements on Pirro’s shows going forward.
