Johnson & Johnson has hired a former Bayer executive as its chief information officer.
Jim Swanson, formerly a technology executive at Bayer’s crop-science division, will succeed Stuart McGuigan. In March, McGuigan took charge of information technology at the State Department, filling a position that had been vacant since late 2017.

J&J CEO Alex Gorsky has emphasized the strategic important of data science capabilities.
