We've come a long, long way from the "Nixon in China" days, as anyone in the pharma industry knows.
But this little news item caught my attention today. I'm not a big sports fan, but if I were one, I'd root for the New York Yankees, just on principle. That team just signed up two new rookies from China today: Kai Liu, a 19-year-old left-handed pitcher, and Zhenwang Zhang, a 19-year-old catcher.
With all the joking about American baseball and football and the provincialism of the term "World Series" in a world where everyone else plays soccer, I had no idea that baseball was even played in China!
What's next: India? (I won't bet on that, or the U.K. or Ireland, anytime soon).
Just hope the new players aren't too freaked out by the Bronx when they arrive.
