Let Them Eat Cake

A brief lunchtime rant....How does the U.S. look to the rest of the world? Forget about politics for a moment, and consider these ridiculous news tidbits from my home states:  New York, where the $1,000 bagel and the $25,000 hot chocolate, with edible gold, were both unveiled this week, and from Illinois, where a junior high school student was just given two days of after-school detention for hugging two class chums. (Texas holds the record for absurdity, however.  A school near Waco reportedly suspended a four-year-old pre-K student for hugging a teacher's aide.)  O, tempora o mores.
