DongA Pharma: The Saga Continues

March 16, 2007
Korea's chaebol system can be difficult enough to understand without family dynamics entering into the picture, but noticed that the DongA Pharma family fued appears to be continuing, with the following news release issued today on behalf of the company's ex-CEO, Kang, informing shareholders outside of the country of March 29th's shareholder meeting and a new roster of board members up for election.  Votes from outside of Korea, he says, should be submitted by March 19. Several weeks ago, the press had carried stories of a growing rift between father and one son (Kang, who was allegedly ousted as CEO due to " poor management"), and the patriarch's dismissal of his son's 10 picks for the board. He doesn't appear to be giving up.
