Catching Counterfeiters

With all the talk of bar codes, RFID and proprietary film coatings to help protect the drug supply chain, sometimes private detectives have to be hired after the fact to catch the culprits. It seems that Johnson & Johnson (New Brunswick, N.J.) hired some private eyes last year after 15 users of their OneTouch blood sugar level detectors complained of inaccurate readings. The trail led them to Henry Fu and his Shanghai firm Halson Pharmaceuticals and he is now in a Chinese jail awaiting action. J&J has sued more than a dozen companies for trademark infringements and counterfeiting regarding this case.  BS
