Vision Components GmbH has adapted OpenCV, the open source program library, to its proprietary VCRT operating system, implementing it on all lines of VC Smart Cameras. OpenCV was originally developed by Intel and published under a BSD license, running only on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux systems. Integrating OpenCV into VC Smart Cameras has increased their application range, since OpenCV includes many enabling algorithms, among others:
- Movement detection
- Facial recognition
- Object tracking
- Contour processing
- Image segmentation
The fast image processing library complements VC Smart Cameras, which are able to execute all image processing routines self-contained, thanks to their integrated intelligence, thus replacing standard PC-based systems.
