Sliding Blisterpack Design Wins Packaging Award

Bosch Sigpack Systems, a Bosch Packaging Technology company, on Dec. 14 received the prestigious Packaging Award WorldStar 2007 from the World Packaging Organization for its "Burgopak" packaging concept. A total of 30 products from companies worldwide have been awarded in the yearly competition for innovation, design and functionality.

With its patented sliding mechanism, the new Burgopak was selected as having one of the best pharmaceutical packaging formats. Besides pharmaceutical products, such as blister packs, the Burgopak is suitable for packaging chewing gums, hard candy or consumer goods in various format sizes, including CDs, DVDs or SIM cards.

"The WorldStar 2007 [award] reflects the positive feedback from the market for Burgopak," says Burgo Watson, the concept’s inventor and partner in the London-based design agency with the same name. "Until now, we produced more than 15 million packages manually. We are looking forward to the introduction in the UK market of the first continuous Burgopak packaging machine in the first term of 2008."

In addition, Bosch Sigpack Systems was also nominated for "Best-of-the-Best President’s Award" competition category. The winners will be announced on May 21, 2008 in Accra, Ghana.
