New UV System Reliably Produces Ultrapure Water

Millipore Corp. has introduced a cost-effective laboratory water purification system that can convert pretreated (distillation, deionization, reverse-osmosis) water to ultrapure (Type I) water. The easy-to-use Synergy UV system is suitable for low-volume laboratory needs such as buffers and solutions for many techniques, including chromatography, electrophoresis, spectrophotometry and spectroscopy, cell culture media and molecular biology reagents preparation.

After connecting the system to a pretreated water supply, it is simple to install the single purification cartridge, which integrates a variety of technologies. Routine maintenance usually consists of changing the cartridge every ten months and the UV lamp every two years. Additionally, the colorful graphic display indicates all essential system parameters, including water quality, which makes control and monitoring more efficient.

For organic-sensitive applications, the built-in UV lamp reduces TOC to less than 5 ppb. Additionally, a range of filters and cartridges are available for the Synergy stem to match individual water requirements.
