Pfizer to Cease Vax Operations in China "Immediately"

After the Chinese government failed to renew an import license for Prevenar, Pfizer announced it will cease vaccine sales operations in China, "effective immediately."

Pfizer released a statement saying the license for Prevenar, a vaccine that protects toddlers against pneumococcal disease, expired, but declined to disclose why the vaccine’s license wasn't renewed. Pfizer is the only company selling the drug in China.

According the Pfizer, vaccine operations in China will close immediately, affecting 200 employees who work in the division.
